Shaping our Future: Rio+20 outcome follow-up and moving towards the post 2015 development agenda
Rio Conventions Pavilion at UNCCD COP11
17 - 26 September 2013, Windhoek, Namibia
The Secretariats of the Rio Conventions and the Global Environment Facility are pleased to announce that the next Rio Conventions Pavilion (RCP) will convene at the Eleventh Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP11), hosted by the Government of Namibia.
In The Future We Want, the outcome document adopted at Rio+20, countries recognized the challenges of desertification, land degradation and drought (DLDD) to sustainable development (paragraphs 205 – 209). The Rio Conventions Pavilion programme will highlight actions that parties and organizations are undertaking to address the Rio +20 outcomes. Now is a crucial opportunity to shape the post-2015 development agenda to emphasize the role of land degradation, biodiversity and climate change to sustainable development.
Under the overarching theme of "Shaping our Future: Rio+20 outcome follow-up and moving towards the post 2015 development agenda", the RCP will explore the following sub-themes:
- 17 Sep: Indigenous and Local Community Sustainable Land Managers
- 18 Sep: Target-Setting Approach
- 19 Sep: Land Degradation Neutrality
- 20 Sep: Ecosystem Restoration
- 23 Sep: Resource Mobilization
- 24 Sep: Landscapes Approach
- 25 Sep: Gender and Drylands Policy Forum
- 26 Sep: Sustainable Land Management
We invite you to join in the discussions. Please see the full programme here and check back for updates.
